For this week’s episode of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, host Joe La Puma is joined at Barneys New York by reggaeton superstar Ozuna.
The 27-year old discusses the popularity of Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen’s Nike signature sneakers when he was growing up in Puerto Rico, his current love for luxury sneakers from brands like Balenciaga and Fear of God, adopting the style of New York City when he moved there in 2010, why Yeezys and Off-White are so popular in Puerto Rico, and more.
“In Puerto Rico, there’s a lot of social media influence. It’s about what artists use, what celebrities choose to wear, and everyone in fashion. In Puerto Rico, it’s such a small place that everyone knows the latest trends,” said Ozuna. “So, artists like Daddy Yankee, Ozuna, Bad Bunny, Anuel AA, and all artists have brought trends on what’s the new attire. Yeezys and Off-White, that’s what’s trending in fashion.”
