In 2017, Fool’s Good head honcho and influential turntablist A-Trak conceived the Goldie Awards. Both a deejay and beat battle, the first incarnation received praise for spotlighting the deejaying culture in a manner similar to the long-running DMC World DJ Championships.
Thanks to its success A-Trak’s Goldie Awards will return on November 8th. Hoping to follow in the foot steps of Holly (beat battle) and Miles Medina (deejaying), eight new turntablists and seven beatmakers (with Holly returning to defend his title) will participate in the event. The likes of Just Blaze, Run The Jewels‘ half El-P, and Venus X will be among the judges.
Tickets are available now. DOn’t quote me on this, but I felt that I read somewhere that the Goldies will be live-streamed as well.
