Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo Release Date
Nike’s giving one of its flagship runners a major tech overhaul this summer.
Fresh off the reveal of the Air Zoom Pegasus 35 comes the upgraded Zoom Pegasus Turbo. Reminiscent of the Swoosh’s Elite basketball offerings, the Zoom Pegasus Turbo builds on the concept and silhouette of the standard Zoom Pegasus 35 but swaps out traditional technology like Zoom Air and Cushlon for the more advanced ZoomX, the same foam featured in the Zoom VaporFly Elite and 4%.
Unlike the aforementioned VaporFly models, the Zoom Pegasus Turbo forgoes a carbon fiber plate based on insight from runners like Eliud Kipchoge (pictured below) and Galen Rupp. While these elite athletes preferred the plate for marathons, Nike says they found the responsiveness to be excessive for everyday use.
In addition to its ZoomX foam, the Zoom Pegasus Turbo uses a layer of React underfoot for added durability and stability. Up top, the model is built with a combination of seamless translucent mesh and Flywire.
The Zoom Pegasus X will launch on the NikePlus app on Thursday, July 19 for members in the U.S., China, Japan, Germany, UK, and Brazil. After that, it will see a global release from nike.com and select retailers on August 2.
